style
Petra Kvitová is known for her big lefty serve, one of the most dangerous in the game. At the [2011 Wimbledon Championships]], Kvitová had the third-most aces of any women, creating 36. Her serve is a novelty for most WTA women, since there are few players as tall as Kvitová, giving her extra power, and also her leftiness (a rarity on the WTA Tour) presents new challenges, such as the slice out wide to the backhand of right handed players in the ad court or the deuce court. Her body-serve is also effective. Kvitová is known primarily as a groundstroke player, with a solid foundation of heavy, flat forehands and backhands. Her specialty is her forehand down the line, but she can hit incredible angles on both wings with tons of pace, especially if given time to hit the ball. Her excellent groundstrokes, which rarely succumb to pressure at key moments, were an important factor in her Wimbledon title, helping her create many breaks of serve 's net play is still not the best, lacking touch, but she is more than capable of playing offensive tennis at the net after a first bounce. Though her lack of speed can be problematic, she bends very low on the run to hit the ball and has vastly improved her defensive game in recent years. Usually, however, her pace of shot is good enough to force any opponents into defensive mode, including the big-hitting Sharapova in the Wimbledon finals.
